Dear Dieter,
if I undertand it correctly, you are interested in a single number. You
may also use
xmipp_volume_align --i1 volume1.mrc --i2 volume2.mrc --local
This program aligns volume2 to volume1 and reports the cross correlation
between the two (there is also an option to report the euclidean
distance, instead of the correlation).
