The Institute of Creative Technologies at De Montfort University invites prospective PhD students to apply for a De Montfort University (DMU) PhD Scholarship.
This opportunity ranges from full scholarships (UK and EU only, with a stipend of £15,009 per annum) to fee waiver awards (which include overseas applicants).
The Institute of Creative Technologies is a home for new ideas, risky play and rapid prototyping. Since it’s foundation in 2006, the Institute has been bringing together technologists, creative practitioners and researchers across discipline areas to develop truly innovative transdisciplinary creative technologies practice and research. The IOCT makes and shares new knowledge and expertise, synthesising practice based research with pioneering advances in digital computing, information technologies, creative practice, science and engineering. Work made falls across four interdisciplinary themes; Creativity in the Digital Age, Urban Living, Life-long Wellbeing, and Social Value.
The IOCT comprises of a core team of staff and visiting researchers, a vibrant postgraduate community across MA and PhD, a programme of research projects, events, and activities, a number of key industrial and commercial partners, and strong links with local, national and international creative industries. The Institute specialises in Practice Based Research, offering doctoral training programmes specifically for PBR.
We are interested in a wide range of Creative Technologies’ related areas, and current foci of the Institute include (but are not restricted to);

Applications (including copies of academic transcripts) should include:
1) Applicant’s name, address, email, educational qualifications and relevant work experience.
2) Details of the proposed research project and how it maps onto DMU areas of research excellence, in particular, urban living, lifelong well-being, creativity in the digital age, social value and/or one of the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The proposed research project should also explain how the research could engage internationally with other researchers in the field (maximum 750 words).
3) Name (with addresses and emails) of two academic referees.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit a full application to the university. All applications for the Full Bursary Scholarship will be automatically considered for a Fee Waiver PhD Scholarship.
