BA Costume with Performance Design at AUB would like to invite colleagues to submit proposals for one-hour lecture presentations linking Costume, Scenography and Critical Theory.
Extended deadline for submissions: Friday April 19 2019
We are seeking a range of academic and professional speakers with backgrounds in theatre, performance and film, who are interested in presenting to our second year BA students at a two day Symposium on May 23/24, 2019. We would also like to invite applications from PhD candidates.
The Symposium seeks to offer students a range of practical, historical, political and theoretical perspectives with regard to their Costume and Scenography practice and to inspire and to prepare them for their research-based dissertation writing.
Proposals are sought for presentations that make strong, practice-led links between critical theory approaches and Scenography, Costume Design and Costume Interpretation, with a particular focus on issues of:
Gender and Sexual Identity.
Race, Ethnicity and Interculturalism.
Spaces of Performance – Site Specifics, Indoor and Outdoor performance.
Ideology and the Politics of Performance.
The Performing Body.
Audience and Spectatorship.
Ritual, Carnival and Play.
We have a small budget available to cover travel and accommodation costs for speakers.
Please send abstracts to:
