The Astrobiology Graduate Student Conference 2019 is now open for graduate student and postdoc abstract submissions. AbGradCon brings together astrobiologically-inclined early career scientists to discuss their research and network with peers in a low-stress, highly supportive, interdisciplinary environment. We welcome researchers from astronomy and astrochemistry to planetary science, geobiology and geochemistry, biology, philosophy, education, and everything in between. Participants overwhelmingly agree that the meeting is one of the best experiences of their early careers. This year the University of Utah is hosting the meeting in Salt Lake City, UT from July 22nd through 26th. Please submit abstracts through http://abgradcon.org/application.html.
The Astrobiology Graduate Student Conference 2019 is also looking for submissions from undergraduates who would like to participate in the undergraduate poster conference. Posters should focus on a topic that touches on astrobiology such as (but not limited to) prebiotic chemistry, exoplanet detection, environmental microbiology of Earth analogs for other planets, and early evolution of life. Submissions should be sent as a single take video with slides proposing the topic to be addressed, how it relates to astrobiology, a synopsis of past work (if pertinent), and results with discussion. Videos should consist of no more than 6 slides and be no more than 5 minutes in length and be less than 500MB. Submitters are welcome to use screen capture recording for their presentation with audio on top using something like OBS (Open Broadcasting Software). The winner of the contest will be provided with full support to present a poster on their topic at the Astrobiology Graduate Student Conference 2019 in Salt Lake City. Deadline is March 31st, 2019. Please visit http://abgradcon.org/ for more information.
