Teaching Associate (Fixed Term)

The Department of Geography, University of Cambridge, wishes to appoint
a
Teaching Associate in Human Geography for a fixed period of 30 months
from
1 September 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Geography or a cognate
subject,
and will be able to teach on the human geography of Polar regions at
undergraduate and Masters levels.
On the undergraduate Geographical Tripos, duties will include convening
and
lecturing on the Part II (third-year) 'Geographies of the Arctic'
course,
and may include specialist Polar or other human geography teaching at
Parts
IA and IB (first and second years), qualitative or quantitative methods
teaching, dissertation supervision and participation in a residential
fieldtrip. On the MPhil course in Polar Studies, they will include
teaching
and dissertation supervision on the human geography of the Polar
regions.
The role-holder will examine at undergraduate and Masters levels and
will
contribute, as appropriate, to the academic administration of the
Department and the University.
The role-holder will be based at the Scott Polar Research Institute
(SPRI),
which is a sub-Department of the Department of Geography and located a
short distance away. Teaching, examining and administrative duties will
take place at Geography and at SPRI.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 30 months in the
first instance.
