The Horniman Museum and Gardens is recruiting two volunteers to assist the Librarian and the Archivist in an exciting project to sort a mixed collection of analogue audio and moving image material.
The collection includes recordings of events and concerts at the Horniman over the past thirty years, footage and audio taken during fieldwork around the world, and video and audio clips played during past Horniman exhibitions. This work will enable the Museum to submit selected items for digitisation, opening unique footage and recordings to researchers and exhibition visitors.
The role will suit anyone interested in audio visual collections, world cultures and music, and museum history.
More information and an application form can be found on the Horniman Museum website: www.horniman.ac.uk/get_involved/volunteering-behind-the-scenes
The Horniman Museum reimburses volunteer travel and lunch expenses.
The application deadline is 10am Friday 22nd March.
The starting date is flexible and expected to be late March or early April. Volunteers will need to be able to commit to volunteering at the Horniman Museum Library in Forest Hill on Tuesdays between 10am and 4pm.
