LUCAS Workshop: Volunteering – New Research and Best Practice (1st May 2019)
Does your archive service use volunteers? Do you vwant to ensure optimal outcomes for both the service and the volunteers?
This workshop provides an opportunity for participants to learn about current research and best practice in volunteering, including contributions from the winner and runner up in last year's ARA volunteering award, the author of a report commissioned by the ARA on the impact of volunteering in archives and a volunteer working in an archive without professional management.
Through taking part in the workshop, participants will:
• Understand the drivers for and role of volunteering in our sector and how this fits within a broader picture
• Increase their awareness of resources to support practitioners working with volunteers, including the latest research
• Understand what constitutes best practice from the perspective of the practitioner and the volunteer
• Be able to demonstrate impact effectively
The workshop will take place in the Rendell Building, LR6 (Building 432, D” on the Campus Map https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/media/livacuk/maps/Campus,Map,Aug,2018_all,1909.pdf).
