At UCL we have just revised our eligibility criteria to restrict who can apply. We have now limited this to
Distance Learning students or students whose visa has expired and have evidence to show that their application for an extension has been rejected.
The rationale for this was to maintain academic integrity of the exams process, it has been impossible to guarantee this due to students having to sit their exam/s at a different time and sometimes date due to availability of the host venue and time differences.
another reason was the delay in the receipt of the completed scripts from the host
In practice all students are expected to attend UCL exam venues for all exams including re-assessment

We charge £100 per exam - this was £100 for any number of exams taken overseas

Yes there have been occasions where academic integrity was not achieved. Scripts returned late, additional time not granted or improperly granted. Mis printing of exam papers resulting in complaints from students not providing the correct stationery or materials to a student

During our last resit period we had over 500 exams to manage overseas - this took a considerable amount of time and resource at times the whole team of 4 working flat out on this process
