I totally agree with Ruxandra's approach - for all of us with the same
background (from the Eastern-European countries)
We usually use: interviewee, research subject, interlocutor, intervieweed
person..
It depends how we approach the interviwer/invesitgator/researcher -
interviewee/respondant/research subject relationship.
And if we consider that the research subject contributes at "producing" the
research results, if we consider the research subject to be an *author*
(partner/equally important...) of the intellectual output of the research,
not *only an actor* *or* even less, *a "subject"* of scientific observation.
