Dear Mariske, and dear all,
This is a very important topic and I am pleased to hear that Utrecht University is developing a course on decolonizing anthropology. This e-mail discussion already demonstrates the many sides that have to be taken into account in such a course! Can I please remind you all that the EASA network for the Anthropology of Race and Ethnicity is discussing the particularities of what ‘European Anthropology’ is and how discussions of decolonizing anthropology relates to this, in its next network meeting (27/28 June 2019, Leiden University). Although I shared this on this mailinglist before, attached the CfP to this email once again. It might be extra important to mention that we will dedicate one afternoon to practical workshops and sessions in which we particularly focus on sharing practices of decolonizing the curriculum, diversity within faculties and within the classroom. This afternoon will be organised together with the Dutch Anthropology Association (Abv). Hope to see many of you there!
best,
Jasmijn Rana
