Dear Michele
This recent article in MAT's Interventions section by Gideon Lasco, 'They might mistake you for an "informant"' (http://www.medanthrotheory.org/read/11122/they-might-mistake-you-for-an-informant) might also be of interest
All best wishes
Tom

Subject: Re: the problematic term: informant
Dear Michele
A reaction to your (rather trickster) quest from an anthropologist/artisan fieldworking 'at home' (The Netherlands) with hundreds of 'informants': 10 hopitalized young men (1994 about 500 in 10
years) & their families and 2) mental health and youth care professionals (even more in 25 years 2018).
They were/are all informants to co-develop with them several anthropological informed 'clinical' concepts and models (since 1994) which are still in 'validating processes'. These co-developed, experience-near and experience-based, conceptions are used in Dutch, mental health and youth care, settings and by clients' and professionals' families themselves (2010).
Find enclosed some of my older papers and a recent paper in which these 'informants' are main characters.
I (and my mothers/fathers families) even became my own informant (2018). :-)
Speaking about (cultural self-) reflexivity :-(
hope this opens up (and confuses) the idea of informant a little.
While perhaps, in the end, we were/are on the road to rediscover and find (reconnaissance) ourselves as Europeans?
kind regards
