Junior Medical Statistician (full-time)
Salary: £12.10 per hour

Applications are invited from undergraduate students in the penultimate year of a degree in a numerate subject, who have an interest in medical statistics.

Commencing on the 1st July 2019, the 8 week post is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain practical work experience as a Statistician involved in medical research.

This post will develop their understanding of statistical research methodologies within a supportive and dynamic research and teaching environment.
Specifically, the post will include:

*             A paid full-time position for 8 weeks at the University of Leicester.
*             Training in statistical software programs.
*             The opportunity to contribute to contemporary research.
*             Support in learning and applying statistical methods.

The successful candidate will undertake statistical analysis of data from studies investigating the effectiveness of biologic drugs used to treat patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis. They will have the opportunity to develop skills in processing clinical data, performing analysis using statistical software, interpreting and reporting the research findings.

They will have the opportunity to attend a training course and/or conference relevant to applied statistics. They will be supported by a NIHR Research Methods Fellow in Medical Statistics throughout the post.

Preferred candidates will currently be a 2nd year undergraduate student (or 3rd year student in a 4-year course) of a relevant subject area (e.g. statistics, mathematics, economics), have a basic understanding of statistics and good computing skills.
