The School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics (SMAS) is one of the most vibrant and active mathematical sciences communities in Australia, with an exceptional research record in applied statistics through the National institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NAISRA).
NIASRA’s objective is to achieve excellence in applied statistics research by undertaking high-quality and high-impact research, consulting, and professional education and training. It collaborates extensively with researchers in government and industry and also within UOW on selected projects. It includes research professors Ray Chambers, Noel Cressie, Brian Culllis and David Steel.
The School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics (SMAS) is seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and capable statisticians to undertake academic duties consistent with ongoing Associate Lecture (Level A) or Lecturer (Level B) appointments.
To succeed, you will be a talented and well-qualified statistician with a PhD in statistics. You will have an active research program in an area of statistics compatible with current research interests in the School, excellent teaching credentials and a proven ability to work well in a team environment. Strong potential to achieve research excellence in applied statistics and become an effective teacher are required and a strong desire and ability to contribute to the development in statistics teaching and research, including its role in Data Science and Analytics.
