This is a very contentious document, lacking clear scientific evidence to support some of its statements.
Take a look at Ba, Xu, Yuan et al BMJ Paediatrics Open https://bmjpaedsopen.bmj.com/content/bmjpo/2/1/e000339.full.pdf
I believe Annette Thomas at Cardiff has also published relevant work.
We use Nova meters for glucose (tiny sample volume) but also do have BGA (large sample volume) for when other tests are needed as well.

Hi Kerrie
Our NICU, DS and TCU use their blood gas analysers for Glucose measurement. They used to have POC glucose meters but apparently were removed 6/7 years ago on the back of a paper suggesting meters weren't sensitive enough at the lower end and NICE guidelines at the time were to use gas analysers. I'm actually just looking into this myself and am looking for more recent guidelines as our TCU use the NICU gas analyser and have requested their own for glucose measurement.......I just need to find the evidence/references. Anyone?
Kind Regards
Rachael Bradley
