Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are all well and many thanks for Professor Tom Rye's advice to post this collaboration opportunity in the UTSG mailing list. The DfT Transport Infrastructure Efficiency Strategy TIES<https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/664432/transport-infrastructure-efficiency-strategy.pdf> describe the Government’s long and short term proposals to deliver 7 challenges. We are particularly interested in Challenge 3 which is focusing on Creating Transport Infrastructure Performance Benchmarking Forum. To complement our cost planning, estimating and benchmarking capabilities, we are proposing to form an Analytical Consortium comprising of analysts from the TIES Partners (e.g. DfT, HS2, Network Rail, TfL, Highways England etc.) an experts from academia. To inform our market testing, we would welcome your thoughts on participating in a such a proposal.
You may already be aware that the Government wishes to see more accurate and complete project performance information so that we can:
* achieve better assurance of what programmes are likely to cost;
* identify the drivers of cost in individual projects; and
* use this intelligence to highlight best practice and drive innovation, productivity and performance.
We would welcome initial comments on the attached slides and thoughts on where this activity might be underpinned by capabilities across the UTSG. We would be most grateful for your responses before close of play on Tuesday 26st February and, if this is an area of interest, please could you provide an indication of your availability for a conference call in the table below to discuss next steps.
