The Industrial Designers Society of America sees product design in the light of inclusivity. The Interior Design Educators Council highlights ‘human orientated design’ as essential to good practice. The AIA and the RIBA list user experience and inclusivity as essential components of design education and thinking. The Arts Council of England funds research into art and wellbeing.

This conference and its publications are premised on the belief that designers need to understand the insights of psychologists, health professionals and diverse commercial and non-commercial user groups to create the products and spaces we will all need in the future: products; furniture; interiors; experiences; buildings; cities

On that basis it brings together people from this diverse range of fields into open dialogue.
