BugsWorker.exe not found can be caused by two factors: virus-protection and file permissions.
File permissions:
MultiBUGS-1.0 must be extracted to a directory that has unfettered write permissions for the user.
While C:\Program files can be written to by the user, Windows 7 will open a dialog for the administrator/user to click-through
and the write will be accomplished.
However, at run time no such dialog box is available; an attempt to write C:\Program files\MultiBUGS-1.0\Multibugs\BugsWorker.exe will fail.
This problem is solved by extracting MultiBUGS-1.0 to a location that does not trigger the dialog box prompting the administrator/user to allow a write.
Anti-virus:
Sophos has whitelisted OpenBUGS.exe and their false-positive error has been corrected.
Sophos users are instructed to update Sophos Anti-virus and clear alerts from Quarantine Manager.
Other virus-protection systems may present similar problems.
Thanks to Andrew Thomas and Robert Goudie, MRC Biostatistics Unit for driving this problem to closure.
Best regards,
Jeff
