Abstract:
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) has received a lot of attention lately. It also promises to provide benefits to users, to urban planners, and for the environment. But there are proving to be reasons it is being viewed with caution and even scepticism from the potential buyers and operators of MaaS products. This talk gives some of these reasons from the perspective of a person who has been working on commercial products as well as consulting and relevant related topics in academia. Topics include space consumption and whether MaaS could backfire, intermodal cooperation and joint pricing, conditions needed for a competitive MaaS provider market, and the differences between rural and urban situations.
