APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING - PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR TURKISH

Dear all,

Off-University is very happy to announce a new online seminar organized
with the New University in Exile Consortium based at the New School for
Social Research -- another step taken simultaneously with the preparation
of an exiting program of online courses to start in the early summer of
2019.

Formed by currently fourteen universities, the New University in Exile
Consortium is committed to the responsibility and capacity of the academic
community in assisting persecuted and endangered scholars everywhere and in
protecting the intellectual capital jeopardized whenever and whereever
universities and scholars are under assault. The New School of Social
Research is the founder and organizer of the New University in Exile
Consortium.

Off-University (https://off-university.com/en-US
<https://off-university.com/en-US>)  and the New University
in Exile Consortium collaborate to present the seminar “The Social
Structures of Neoliberal Authoritarianism: The Case of Turkey” moderated by
the New School for Social Research’s University in Exile Fellow Dr. Cem
Özatalay and Dr. Bediz Yılmaz. The seminar explores Turkey’s gradual shift
towards authoritarianism over the last decade and will consider to what
extent this shift is part of a global drift toward authoritarianism and to
what degree, in Turkey’s case, the drift is a function of the country’s own
history.

During the 10-weeks seminar, participants have the opportunity to learn
more about the political situation in Turkey today, particularly the period
after the AKP assumed power, and to discuss current issues with the
moderators in an on-line learning environment that includes video-lectures,
interviews with specialists, documentaries, films and readings. After
fulfilling the requirements of writing a weekly brief critical assessment
of the assigned material and joining actively in the weekly seminar
discussion, the participants obtain a certificate.

Registration is open to everybody and free of charge. The language of the
seminar is English.

Registrations opens on February 11, 2019 at 9 am (GMT-5)/3pm (GMT+1)/5pm
(GMT+3))
The seminar starts on February 24, 2019.
Weekly meetings with the moderators take place Thursdays, 9am (GNT-5)/3pm
(GMT+1)/5pm (GMT+3).

Sevgili dostlar,

2019 Yaz Dönemi ders programı hazırlıklarını tüm hızıyla sürdürdüğümüz bu
günlerde, New School for Social Research'e bağlı New University in Exile
Consortium ile ortak yürüteceğimiz yeni bir online seminer programını
sunmanın mutluluğunu yaşıyoruz.

Şu anda 14 üniversiteden oluşan New University in Exile Consortium,
New School for Social Research,
New University in Exile Consortium'un kurucusu ve organizatörüdür.

Bu kurumlarla beraber kolaylaştırıcılığını Dr. Cem Özatalay ve Dr. Bediz
Yılmaz'ın üstlendiği yeni bir online semineri sizlere sunuyoruz.
"Neoliberal Otoriterliğin Sosyal Yapısı: Türkiye Vakası" başlığını taşıyan
seminer, Türkiye'nin son on yıl içinde kademeli olarak otoriter rejime
doğru ilerleyişini, ülke tarihindeki faktörleri giderek artan küresel
otoriterlik akımı içinde tartışarak inceliyor.

10 haftalık seminerde katılımcılar, Türkiye'nin bugünkü politik durumu,
özellikle post-AKP dönemi hakkında eğitim videoları, uzmanlarla görüşmeler,
belgeseller ve okumalar, vb. çevirimiçi eğitim yöntemleri kullanılarak
kolaylaştırıcılar eşliğinde tartışma fırsatı elde ediyor. Haftalık kısa
eleştirel değerlendirme görevlerini tamamlayan ve seminerlere aktif katılım
gösteren katılımcılar sertifika almaya hak kazanacak.

Kayıtlar herkesin katılımına açık ve ücretsizdir. Seminer dili ingilizcedir.

Kayıtlar 11 Şubat 2019 saat 17'de (GMT+3) açılıyor.
Seminer 24 Şubat 2019'da başlıyor.
Kolaylaştırıcılarla haftalık toplantılar her Perşembe günü saat 17'de
(GMT+3) gerçekleşecek.
