No more Matlab crashings.

This seems to be an issue between MATLAB and libpango. Similar reports have been made here:

and it seems a fix would be to downgrade your system installation of that library.
Some comments mention the crash happens when opening the MATLAB documentation. Could you try if commenting out this line:
https://github.com/spm/spm12/blob/master/spm.m#L352
'fixes' the issue for you?
