The Chemical Dynamics in the Gas Phase Group in the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division of Argonne National Laboratory solicits applicants to fill a basic-research staff position in the area of experimental chemical physics or physical chemistry. The group currently consists of twelve staff members, with three experimentalists and nine theoreticians and modelers. The primary funding for the group comes from the Gas-Phase Chemical Physics Program of the DOE-Basic Energy Sciences-Chemical Sciences, Geosciences, and Biosciences Division. The program website is at: https://science.energy.gov/bes/csgb/research-areas/gas-phase-chemical-physics/ , and a description of the Core Research Areas of this program is available at: https://science.energy.gov/~/media/bes/pdf/brochures/bes-cras/2017/cra_16_GPCP.pdf .The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead an independent research program that complements and benefits from the current activities within the group, and that fits into the context of the DOE-Gas-Phase Chemical Physics Program. In the past, the DOE Program has focused primarily on gas-phase chemistry in the context of combustion, but the scope of the program has broadened in recent years, and research addressing the broader Core Research Areas is strongly encouraged. The current experimental effort within the group includes both laboratory- and facility-based research, and proposals that make use of DOE User Facilities [e.g., the Advanced Photon Source (APS), Advanced Light Source (ALS), National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS-II), or the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS)] are also encouraged, but not required.

Position Requirements:
•	Demonstrated accomplishments in creative basic research. 
•	Specific experimental expertise in areas of gas-phase chemical dynamics or kinetics relevant to the proposed research.
•	Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate with a diverse group of researchers.
•	Demonstrated oral and written communication skills as defined by oral presentations at scientific meetings and publications
           in peer-review, archival, and scientific journals. 
•	Considerable general knowledge of current issues in chemical physics.
•	This position requires a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or a related field.
