His argument, made here and elsewhere, also speaks to the actions of certain large web corporations and their social and economic consequences: their actions are driven by economic, not technological concerns. Re-de-centralising the web isn't necessarily a question of new technologies and protocols. They may or may not play a part, but the real questions are political.
