Dear Matthew,
Below is the same error using SUSAN as Natasha pointed out using the same thread subject "SUSAN segmentation violation - please help!"
/usr/local/fsl/bin/susan prefiltered_func_data_thresh 0.0 2.54777070064 3 1 1 mean_func 0.0 prefiltered_func_data_smooth

FATAL ERROR ENCOUNTERED:
COMMAND:
/usr/local/fsl/bin/susan prefiltered_func_data_thresh 0.0 2.54777070064 3 1 1 mean_func 0.0 prefiltered_func_data_smooth
ERROR MESSAGE:
child killed: segmentation violation
END OF ERROR MESSAGE
child killed: segmentation violation
    while executing
"if { [ catch {

for { set argindex 1 } { $argindex < $argc } { incr argindex 1 } {
    switch -- [ lindex $argv $argindex ] {

	-I {
	    incr arginde..."
    (file "/usr/local/fsl/bin/feat" line 312)
Error encountered while running in main feat script, halting.
child killed: segmentation violation

As per your suggestion I have also attached the bad feat directory named Bad_feat_directory.tar.gz to https://oxfile.ox.ac.uk/oxfile/work/extBox?id=700839B35190E48BF
Here are some of the answers to your queries
/usr/local/fsl/bin/bet2 mean_func test -f 0.3 -n -m
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

fslstats prefiltered_func_data_st -r R
-1.316284 1508.276733 Unrecognised option: R

Additional information
I have used the raw data to calculate the motion outliers using fsl_motion_outliers followed by regressing out the time points of excess movements (commands given below).
fsl_motion_outliers -i EPI.nii.gz -o confound_w_mo_co.txt --dvars -s dvars_w_mo_co
converted confound_w_mo_co.txt to confound_w_mo_co.mat
fsl_glm -i EPI.nii.gz -d confound_w_mo_co.mat --out_res=EPI_dvars.nii.gz
fslcpgeom EPI.nii.gz EPI_dvars.nii.gz

The output of this exercise (EPI_dvars.nii.gz) was then fed into MELODIC for calculating Independent components, during which the error msg came as below
/usr/local/fsl/bin/susan prefiltered_func_data_thresh 0.0 2.54777070064 3 1 1 mean_func 0.0 prefiltered_func_data_smooth
ERROR MESSAGE:
child killed: segmentation violation

Kindly comment where exactly you see any problems in this analysis

I appreciate your kind assistance in this regard
Thanking you in anticipation
Regards
Himanshu Joshi
