Based within the School of Public Health at Imperial College London, ICTU works to bring together academic and trial management expertise. Trial designs range from early stage to large confirmatory studies, with a focus currently on a number of therapeutic areas including cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, respiratory disease, emergency medicine and critical care, HIV and infectious diseases. Other key areas currently being developed include surgery and hepatology research.
We are looking for a Clinical Trial Statistician and research advisor for London Research Design Service (RDS).
Duties and responsibilities
As a clinical trial statistician the post holder will provide statistical input to a new portfolio of studies evaluating digital interventions for the management of chronic conditions. Conditions include Asthma, COPD, Diabetes and Heart Disease. These rapid trials have recently been awarded funding and are a collaboration with 'my mhealth' (www.mymhealth.com). This is a unique opportunity for the post holder to support trials from the initial set up stage as well as being involved in developing new applications for future funding. The post holder will work closely with both the 'my mhealth' research team and Imperial clinical trial statisticians. They will provide support on all aspects of a trial including contributing to the protocol, writing the statistical analysis plan, reviewing the case report forms, undertaking analysis and participating in regular trial meetings.
In their role as a research advisor for the London Research Design Service the post holder will work closely and collaboratively with other experienced research advisors both internally at Imperial and across the four partner institutions (www.rds-london.nihr.ac.uk/ ). They will support and advise investigators who are submitting applications for peer-reviewed funding streams for a broad range of health service research. This will include providing written and oral advice on aspects such as the research design, funding stream and statistical aspects of the application.
Essential requirements
You must have a First degree (Class I or II) or equivalent in a subject containing a substantial coverage of statistical theory, methods and practice (at least 50% of the final year) or a taught Masters degree or equivalent in Statistics, Medical Statistics or a subject with substantial high-level statistics content. You will also have extensive experience of using standard statistical packages such as STATA, R and SAS.

This post is full-time and fixed-term for 24 months in the first instance, and is based at Stadium House, Wood Lane; close to Wood Lane and White City tube stations, with travel to other Imperial College and RDS sites.
