Dear Colleagues,
The Applied Languages section of School of Humanities at the
University of Dundee, the School of Modern Languages of the University
of St Andrews and the University of Aberdeen are hosting the
Cross-Sector Annual Conference on New Perspectives on Language
Teaching and Learning, on Saturday, 15 June 2019 at the University of
Dundee, Dalhousie Building.
The theme of the conference is ?Widening Participation? and it seeks
to explore widening participation in its widest sense in relation to
Modern Languages and language learning, from encouraging language
uptake amongst learners from all backgrounds, to reflecting on
different approaches to and techniques of ab initio language teaching.
We welcome proposals for workshops as well as presentations of
projects on innovative ways of teaching Modern Languages at school and
at university level.
Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
? Creative skills
? Enterprise
? Technology-enhanced learning (TEL)
? Independent learning
? Innovative assessment
? Peer feedback
? Translation and interpreting skills
? Bilingualism and multilingualism in the classroom
? Transition from school to university
? Innovative approaches to ab initio teaching
? The pros and cons of streaming
? Developing confidence in language learners
Please express your interest by midnight on Monday, 15 April 2019, by
sending your proposal to Marion Spöring ([log in to unmask])
as a titled, Word or PDF attachment of not more than 250 words in
length. Your proposal should include your name and organisation. The
successful participants will be notified by 1 May 2019.
