Project title: Development of a Software Tool for Musculoskeletal Diffusion Tensor Image Analysis
Salary: £30,395 to £39,609 per annum, subject to an annual pay award.
The aim of this project is to develop a software tool for Musculoskeletal (MSK) Diffusion Tensor Image (DTI) analysis and to understand the pathway to commercialise the developed MSK DTI software. The underpinning research of the project is in the areas of computational statistics, medical image analysis and musculoskeletal science. This project will be led by Dr Diwei Zhou in Mathematics and Professor Jonathan Folland in Sports Science at Loughborough University with collaborative support from Professor Vicky Goh at Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospitals (London) and Professor Paul Morgan from Nottingham University Hospitals. The project is funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF). The post will start from February 2019.
Applicants must have a PhD in Computer Science or Statistics or Mathematics or a closely related discipline (awarded or in submission); expertise in medical image analysis; track record of research in computational statistics or image analysis and developing efficient programs for image analysis. They must have strong programming skills in MATLAB and an efficient compiled language like C/C++ or Java/Scala; excellent written and oral communication skills and skills in effective time management.
This is a full-time 10-month post from February until November 2019,with possibility of extension.

Subject: EVENT: 1st UK Reliability Meeting, 1-3 April 2019 at Durham University
The 1st UK Reliability Meeting will take place at Durham University, 1–3 April 2019.
The objective is to develop an annual meeting series to bring together researchers
and practitioners in reliability theory from across the UK. The meeting combines
postgraduate lectures on basic aspects of reliability theory and applications with
a workshop. Eight postgraduate lectures, each about 50 minutes, will be presented
by academic staff from leading UK academic Reliability groups, including from the
universities of Durham, Liverpool, Loughborough, Nottingham and Strathclyde.
The workshop will enable academic staff, students and practitioners to present their
recent or ongoing research or to discuss open problems, probably in presentations
of about 20 minutes and only requiring a title and abstract. The aim is to leave ample
time for discussions. There will also be a key-note lecture by an international leading
researcher in the field.

Note that thee are no fees for participating at this meeting! While the main aim is
to bring together the UK Reliability community, the meeting is of course open to

Topic: ISIPTA 2019 is devoted to robustness and imprecision in uncertainty modelling, inference and decision making, focusing in particular on uncertainty frameworks that extend or replace the probabilistic one.
