MSc in Statistics
Imperial College London
The Imperial College MSc in Statistics is now accepting applications. We look forward to hearing from exceptional students to join our MSc programme in the academic year 2019-2020. The MSc in Statistics at Imperial is a one year full-time programme which provides outstanding training both in theoretical and applied statistics.
Since October 2018, in addition to the general MSc in Statistics<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/> degree, we are also offering the following specialisation streams:
* Applied Statistics<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/applied-statistics/>
* Biostatistics<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/biostatistics/>
* Data Science<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/msc-statistics-data-science/> (new stream for 2019)
* Statistical Finance<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/statistical-finance/>
* Theory and Methods<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/theory-and-methods/>
The formal qualification received will include the name of the specialist stream and therefore can be used to indicate to employers or future research supervisors what they have specialised in during their MSc. For example: MSc Statistics (Applied Statistics).
For all 6 degrees, we offer the same Compulsory Modules<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/statistics/#one> in the autumn term. This ensures that all students obtain advanced knowledge of probability theory and fundamentals of statistical inference as well as acquire sufficient skills to tackle the challenges of modern applied and computational statistics.
One of the highlights of the Imperial MSc in Statistics is the great variety of Elective Modules<https://www.imperial.ac.uk/mathematics/postgraduate/msc/statistics/statistics/#two> we offer in the spring term, which provide depth and exposure to the diverse range of statistical applications and methods. Students on the general MSc in Statistics will have free choice over which elective modules they take. Each of the specialised streams have a tailored set of elective modules.
Based on their stream and interest, our MSc students choose a topic for their major research project, which they will be working on over the entire summer. This project pulls the material from the Compulsory and Elective modules together, and provides students with the opportunity to work extensively on either theoretical or practical problems in Statistics.
