I'm designing some new bookshelves. At what distance(s) apart should I put
the shelves?
If I had complete data on my books, I think I would plot the heights on a
stemplot and look for "gaps". These would indicate where to put shelves.
I'm interested in
(a) practical information about what experienced bookshelf-constructors
actually do (Are there librarians on this list?)
(b) hard data on the distribution of book-heights
(c) hard-maths 'optimisation' solutions e.g. maximise number of books,
minimise amount of wood, ......
Thanks to anybody who can assist!
