Dear all,
A half-day research symposium on Mendelian randomization methodology will take place in Cambridge at the MRC Biostatistics Unit in Cambridge on the morning of Friday 22nd March 2019. Speakers will be Joanna Howson (Cambridge), Vincent Plagnol (Genomics PLC), Apostolos Gkatzionis (Cambridge), Eric Slob (Erasmus Rotterdam), and Jessica Rees (Edinburgh).
Overview: The symposium will take place after the two-day Mendelian randomization course held at the MRC Biostatistics Unit in Cambridge on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st March 2019. The symposium is open to both course and non-course attendees. The provisional timetable is as follows:
9.00 Registration
9.30 Jo Howson "Rare and common variants associated with blood pressure - implication for cardiovascular disease"
10.10 Eric Slob "A review of robust Mendelian randomization methods using summary data"
10.40 Tea
11.00 Apostolis Gkatzionis "Bayesian variable selection with a pleiotropic loss function for Mendelian randomization"
11.30 Vincent Plagnol "Leveraging thousands of genetic association datasets to dissect disease biology and optimise risk prediction"
12.10 Jess Rees "Factorial Mendelian randomization: using genetic variants to assess interactions"
12.40 Discussion
13.00 Lunch and finish
Please note that registration for the two-day course is still open and places on the symposium can be included as part of registration for the full course at https://onlinesales.admin.cam.ac.uk/conferences-and-events/mrc-biostatistics-unit/mrc-biostatistics-unit-short-courses/mendelian-randomization-course-20-21-march-2019. Registration for the symposium only is at: https://onlinesales.admin.cam.ac.uk/conferences-and-events/mrc-biostatistics-unit/mrc-biostatistics-unit-short-courses/research-symposium-on-mendelian-randomization-methodology-22-march-2019.
We hope to see you either on the two-day course or the half-day symposium!
Best wishes,
Stephen Burgess
