Job description :
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit to support research and knowledge transfer activities of the Faculty of Health & Wellbeing. You will provide statistical advice and support in the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials and other high-quality research studies within Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and the wider Faculty whilst further developing your skills and experience in health research and statistics. The role is primarily research, but you will also contribute to teaching by the CTU and Faculty Statistics Team.
You will need to be self-motived and able to work both independently and under the guidance of more senior members of the CTU and Faculty Statistics Team. You will work on research projects, performing data management and statistical analysis, and report the research findings in a variety of formats to different audiences. You will be expected to contribute ideas for statistical methodological research relevant to the studies being undertaken.
You will have formal training in statistics at degree or postgraduate level and good knowledge of medical statistics and clinical trials. Postgraduate level study or equivalent experience is essential. You will have competence in a range of statistical techniques and you will have experience of undertaking statistical research in a work or study environment. You will have produced or contributed to the production of written research reports.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are core requirements for this position. You will have excellent organisational skills alongside the ability to synthesise quantitative information effectively. Competence in at least one statistical software package is essential and knowledge of STATA is desirable. Some travel between work sites will be required.
