Full-time (Fixed term contract)
Salary £32,236 - £39,608

Further details from: https://jobs.york.ac.uk/ (Job Reference 7238)
Role Description:
The Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD) is a research department
that specialises in evidence synthesis across a range of areas to provide
best evidence to inform health policy and practice. Established in 1994,
the Centre has played a key role in developing underpinning methods and in
establishing the value of evidence synthesis in health decision-making.
We are recruiting a Statistician (Grade 6 Research Fellow) to carry out
methods research as part of an MRC-funded project, and to contribute to the
NIHR Technology Assessment Reviews Programme, a research contract held
jointly with the Centre for Health Economics (CHE), delivering technology
assessments. There will be opportunity to work across programmes of
research, and projects will be aligned with your interests, skills and
experience.
You will contribute to a new methods development project on using
observational evidence to complement randomised trial data, focusing on
methods to assess and adjust for bias and its impact on decision-making.
You will also help plan and develop new research proposals, while
presentation of project findings at internal and external meetings and at
conferences is an expectation of the role.
Applications are invited from candidates who have a first degree and
relevant Masters level qualification in statistics, mathematics or a
related discipline with a strong quantitative component. You will
preferably have a PhD in a relevant topic or have equivalent work
experience. Knowledge of methods for meta-analysis and assessment of risk
of bias in randomised trials in healthcare is essential. Previous
experience of network meta-analysis and health economics and a proven track
record of publications in high quality journals is highly desirable.
We are keen to receive applications from those with knowledge,
qualifications and experience in medical statistics with particular
application to health technology assessment.
The post is available from March 2019 and appointments will be made for an
initial fixed-term period of three years.
