Morning all,
We are delighted to announce that tickets for the Visitor Studies Group annual conference are now on sale!
“Visitor studies: reflecting the wider world, advocating for change?”
7th and 8th March 2019, National Gallery, London
As visitor studies practitioners seeking to understand the broad identities of our visitors, how can we respond to developments in the wider world to better engage with them and meet their needs? This could be responding to research around the digital or social time experiences of visitors, or to the ever-changing communities living and working around us.
How can we use these insights to better reflect the world surrounding our organisations, and how can audience research help us change our practices to better engage with the lived experiences of visitors? Moreover, looking beyond the cultural sector, what – in an ever-changing world – can we learn from other sectors about adapting and repositioning ourselves in relation to emerging trends and research?
How does all of the above impact on audience and visitor evaluation practitioners and the work we do? Do we need to redefine what success looks like and how we capture it? What role does evidence of research play in this? How does the experience of visitors affect our exhibitions, our programmes and our institutions and working practices?
