This would be a really important study Trixie as so many 'outcomes of normal/vaginal birth' type studies include women who have had poor quality non-evidence based care - there will be a debate coming up in BJOG soon that raises just this issue!.
We are currently colecting together all the cohort studies in the world that look at outcomes of labour and birth (over 600 so far!) to see how many include women with planned out of hospital birth (very few) so this could be part of the same debate? It could also link to the planned day on physiological labour and birth research and action that has already been discussed on this list (and which we are hoping to add to the normal birth conference agenda) and to the work of others on the list who are thinking of setting up networks inthis area?
Just on the latter point, we will soon be launching IBRAA, the International Birth Research and Action Association, that follows on from our two EU COST Actions - Ill let everyone know when the invitation to join comes out!
Meanwhile, the more research in this area the better, I think?
All the best
Soo
