italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Please find below the call for papers for two panels ‘New approaches to
Dante’s Vita nuova’ to be submitted to the International Dante
Conference – Alma Dante 2019 in Ravenna, 29 May – 1 June 2019.
Title: ‘New approaches to Dante’s Vita nuova’
Organisers: Valentina Mele (University of Cambridge), David Bowe
(University College Cork)
We welcome proposals for papers on Dante’s Vita nuova for the
International Dante Conference – Alma Dante 2019. In response to the
collaborative research project, ‘Re-reading Dante’s Vita nova’, which
has aimed to pay new, close attention to the Vita nuova and to provide
fresh interpretative approaches in reading the libello, we seek to
organise two panels to explore and discuss a range of different issues
under this wide heading. The aim of these panels is to expand the
ongoing dialogue about how we read Dante’s Vita nuova, in terms of its
form, content, contexts, and reception. We are interested in Dante’s
text and intertexts as well as in questioning and discussing its more
broadly accepted interpretations.
Please send a title, short abstract (300 words) and brief biographical
note (150 words) to [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] by 31 January.
Best wishes,
Valentina and David
