Dear all,
The Institute of Physics has opened nominations for its 2019
awards round, with deadline 31st January 2019.
The starting point is:
https://www.iopconferences.org/iop/frontend/reg/thome.csp?pageID=820136&eventID=1318
There are several categories into which geophysicists would fit.
The IoP is anxious to reward physicists in industry as well as
academia, so do consider nominating either an individual
or a team from industry for one of these, specifically
the Katharine Burr Blodgett gold medal or the Dennis Gabor
silver Medal for "distinguished contributions
to the application of physics in an industrial, commercial
or business context". Special rules apply for these to
make it easier to nominate people from within an organisation.
See https://www.iopconferences.org/iop/frontend/reg/tOtherPage.csp?pageID=820169&ef_sel_menu=6909&eventID=1318
I cannot see any requirement for nominators or nominees
to be members of the Institute of Physics so don't let that
prevent you from making a nomination.
Regards,
Sheila Peacock,
BGA awards officer.
