We have an opportunity for an energetic, enthusiastic post-doctoral research fellow with experience in neuroimaging studies to join a clinical research group at the Liggins Institute, University of Auckland. The successful candidate will be involved in acquiring and analysing brain MRI data in children participating in two clinical studies: the CHYLD Study and the MR DIAMOND Study.
The CHYLD Study is a prospective longitudinal cohort study of infants born at risk of neonatal hypoglycaemia. The cohort has been assessed at 2 and 4.5 years of age, and is now being re-assessed at 9-10 years to determine the relationship between neonatal hypoglycaemia, neurocognitive function, academic achievement and brain structure.
DIAMOND is a multicentre factorial design randomised trial assessing the effects of three feeding strategies in moderate-late preterm babies. MR DIAMOND is a nested study to determine the effects of these different feeding strategies on specific aspects of brain maturation.
The research fellow will have day-to-day responsibility for acquiring, monitoring and analysis of advanced 3T MR imaging. Analyses will include clinical scoring, cortical morphometry, fractional anisotropy, white matter tractography, and resting state functional networks. This full time two year post will provide opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, vision scientists and statisticians at the Liggins Institute, Auckland, and collaborate with researchers at the University of Toronto and University of Waterloo, Canada.
To discuss this opportunity further, please contact Distinguished Prof Jane Harding ([log in to unmask]) or Associate Prof Ben Thompson ([log in to unmask]).
Applications must be submitted online, by the closing date of Sunday 8th November 2018.
