Dear all
Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) has just advertised twenty new permanent lectureships in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Appointees to these positions will be embedded in Schools across the Faculty, but will also contribute significantly to the Faculty’s interdisciplinary research environment as a fellow of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS). These strategic positions are intended to offer an early career route to enhance the appointed lecturer’s development. Appointees will have reduced teaching loads during their first three years (a nominal 0.25 contribution in year 1 and 0.5 contribution in years 2 and 3), allowing time to develop interdisciplinary research initiatives as an IHSS fellow and take advantage of external funding opportunities.
As part of this Faculty-wide call, the School of Geography at QMUL seeks applications to the scheme in the following areas of interest/expertise:
· Health and environmental justice
· The science of environmental change and sustainability
The intention of the scheme is to make appointments that will enhance interdisciplinary research within and beyond the faculty, and we are particularly keen to hear from applicants who can identify opportunities for doing so in these areas.
Further details of the scheme and a recruitment pack can be found at: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/lectureships-hss/
The closing date for applications is 3 January 2019. Interviews will take place in February 2019 and the posts will commence on 1 September 2019.
Informal enquiries can be addressed to the Head of the School of Geography, Professor Alastair Owens ([log in to unmask]).
Best wishes,
Stephen
PS: A quick reminder that the 15th David M. Smith Annual Lecture at QMUL will be given by Professor Gill Valentine (Sheffield) on 29th November 2018, 6.30pm.
