** STILL TIME TO BOOK **
Our international conference on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) will be held in Nottingham on 22nd-23rd November. This event will be of particular interest to those in social work, health, psychology, education, criminology and other disciplines connected with children, young people and families.
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are aspects of early childhood trauma that have been linked to negative outcomes in adulthood spanning health, crime, relationships, education and employment. Having gained significant ground in the USA, where much of the underpinning research originates, there is increasing evidence of its deployment in other counties (including the UK).
We’re bringing together practitioners, academics, policy makers and other stakeholders to tackle a number of questions:
· What are ACEs and how do they impact upon policy and practice in work with children, young people and families?
· What are the practical and ethical challenges that arise when considering ACEs?
· What are the limitations in the ACEs approach, and are there alternatives we need to consider?
We've got a great line up of international speakers, workshops and parallel sessions over the two days.
Further information is contained in the enclosed flyer and please visit our website to book your place: www.ntu.ac.uk/aceconference.
We'd also be keen to support postgraduate students to attend this conference and have set aside a number of reduced rate bursaries. Please do ask any interested students to get in touch if they'd like to apply for one of these.
We would be grateful for any help you can give in letting people know about this event, and hope very much to see you in November.
