Professor of Anthropology (open rank) at the multidisciplinary School of Advanced Studies, University of Tyumen (Siberia)
The School of Advanced Studies (SAS) (https://sas.utmn.ru/en <https://sas.utmn.ru/en/>/), a new and rapidly growing institution at the University of Tyumen (Siberia), central to the university’s strategy supported by the Russian Academic Excellence project https://5top100.ru/en/ <https://5top100.ru/en/>, is recruiting professors of Anthropology (open rank). SAS operates in English, so no knowledge of Russian is required, and currently employs 20 professors from 7 countries.
SAS distinctive feature is the organization of research around multidisciplinary projects involving humanities and social sciences, life sciences, and IT, so we are interested in anthropologists willing and able to work on a team with scholars from other disciplines. The teams are formed and projects are outlined at the project design session in March 2019 (see info on the previous such session here: https://sas.utmn.ru/en/project-design-session-2018-en/ <https://sas.utmn.ru/en/project-design-session-2018-en/>).
SAS faculty teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels. SAS undergraduate program is similar to a US university’s honors college and is characterized by small classes, extensive core curriculum, and a large number of elective courses designed by faculty based on their research interests. SAS offers majors in History, Sociology & Anthropology, Economics, Film & Media, IT, Life Sciences and Cultural Studies. On the graduate level, SAS has just launched its first MA program in Digital Cultures and Media Production https://sas.utmn.ru/en/ma-en/ <https://sas.utmn.ru/en/ma-en/> with another MA program in social sciences scheduled to open in 2019. Other MA programs will be opening in the coming years reflecting faculty research interests.
Getting a job at SAS is a chance to launch or reinvent one’s academic career for scholars interested in contributing to shaping a new institution, committed to teaching and believing in intellectual communication across disciplinary boundaries. Successful candidates will receive European-level salaries, health insurance and research travel funds. Some information on Tyumen is available here: https://sas.utmn.ru/en/siberia-light/ <https://sas.utmn.ru/en/siberia-light/>.
Please send a CV, three letters of reference, and a cover letter describing your academic itinerary and research plans in the framework of a hypothetical team project via e-mail to [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>. PhD is required at the time of appointment. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until December 15, 2018.
