Masterclass December 2018 A joint CSTAR@UL/HRI masterclass will be held on December 6-7th<x-apple-data-detectors://14> on 'Statistical Issues in Clinical Research' taught by Prof Stephen Senn, Edinburgh. This course will run from 9:30-5:30<x-apple-data-detectors://15> day 1 and 9-3:00<x-apple-data-detectors://16> day 2 and will be held at UHL. It will include the following topics Philosophy (Causality and thinking statistically); Theory (An elementary explanation of the differences between Bayesians and frequentists). Practical (Design, allocation to treatment and sample size determination.) Baseline and Covariate Information (if, when and how to adjust Measuring Treatment Effects(Transformations, dichotomies, intention to treat, missing data and multiplicity) Beyond the Single Centre Parallel Group Trial (Multi-centre trials, cross-over trials and cluster randomised trials) Beyond average effects? (Subgroups, personalised medicine, n-of.1 trials and real world data). Although mainly aimed at those involved in health research it could also be useful for those making similar decisions in their analyses. A basic statistical knowledge is all that is required. External fees €250 for the 2 day course. There will be a limit on numbers so please enrol early if you can.
