We are seeking a person with advanced statistical knowledge to complement our research team for the Minimum Unit Pricing for Alcohol (MUP) NIHR funded evaluation study.
Job Purpose
To lead the selection of appropriate methods and techniques for statistical analyses in support of the research outcomes for the study, conduct analyses and contribute to papers and reports. This will make a leading contribution to an evaluation of the Scottish Government’s recently introduced policy on Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) of alcohol in Scotland, funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
Alcohol-related harm in the UK, and particularly Scotland, is high and a major contributor to health inequalities. MUP has important public health potential to address the burden of alcohol-related health harms and to reduce health inequalities. The postholder will contribute to the conduct, management and publication of research on the impact of this legislative change, as well as assist in managing and directing this complex and challenging project. Specifically, the postholder will lead the selection of appropriate methods and techniques for statistical analyses in support of the research outcomes for the study, conduct analyses and contribute to papers and reports.
This research is part of the Measurement and Analysis of Socioeconomic Inequalities in Health and Informing Healthy Public Policy programmes at the MRC/CSO Social & Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow.
The closing date is 3/12/2018.
