The RSS Data Ethics SIG is holding a meeting on Tuesday 11 December to
present our mapping of the landscape, some work on the skills and
professional responsibilities from Data Science Section (with support from
the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries), and our future plans. RSS members
are encouraged to attend and shape the direction of the SIG's activity.
*Following the formal AGM business, we begin at 4pm, at Lift (near Angel),
London - tea/coffee from 3:30pm*
- International landscape and gaps in activity - Peter Elias
- Partnerships and prospects for 2019 - Tom King
- Skills and professional issues for data ethics - Leone Wardman
- From bafflingly obscure to .. visible: data ethics in the media -
Timandra Harkness
- Reflections and priorities from the GSS - Simon Whitworth
These will be short presentations, leaving around half the meeting for
discussion - concerns and suggestions, whether or not you can attend, are
welcome in advance of the meeting. As the government Centre for Data Ethics
and Innovation and the Ada Lovelace Institute set out their agenda, the RSS
can bring some focus on more complex matters.
