Symmetries, asymptotics and multi-scale approaches
Friday 30 November 2018, 10:00am - 06:00pm at the Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol Street, EC1Y 8LX London
One important feature in many multi-scale models is the presence and quantification of some kind of symmetries, either of scaling type or the ones given by spatial actions which allow to reduce the complexity of the models, often in a quantitative/quantifiable way.
Our main goal in this meeting is to allow a mutual inspiration between pure and applied mathematicians, by highlighting differences and parallels in the appearance of the above principles and phenomena in varied fields.
