Hi All,
'Dangerous Energy' was primarily focussed on explosives manufacturing sites and the larger filling factories. The small arms ammunition factories were included in the mapping but not discussed.
Also remember the research was pre-GoogleEarth and pre desk GIS sytems so NGRs were often just derived 1 50 000 maps.
The ROF chapter may contain some pointers to layout. I think there have been some appraisals of ROF SAA plants at Radway Green and in ?W Yorkshire, the HERs should know.
Also check TNA Kew, but documentation is often elusive.
Best wishes,
Wayne

Subject: Dangerous energy - Spennymoor County Durham
Hi Folks
Does anyone have a copy of Dangerous Energy The archaeology of gunpowder and military explosives manufacture Wayne D Cocroft?
And if you do could you check to see if it has any information on a site at Spennymoor, please?
This is shown on Pastscape at https://www.pastscape.org.uk/hob.aspx?hob_id=1075766<https://www.pastscape.org.uk/hob.aspx?hob_id=1075766&sort=2&type=&typeselect=c&rational=a&class1=None&period=None&county=None&district=None&parish=None&place=&recordsperpage=10&source=text&rtype=monument&rnumber=1075766> and I have a Planning App just south of its location, so want to try and work out how extensive the site was ie did it possibly extend into the application area?
thanks
best wishes
