Vacancy: Geospatial Survey Expertise Technician
Location: School of Engineering, Newcastle University, UK
Salary: £30,395 to £32,236, with progression to £39,610 per annum

You will be one of a team of technicians supporting the operation of, and providing technical support within the School of Engineering laboratories and associated facilities. Particularly the support of teaching and research in Geomatics (Geospatial Engineering). Duties may include, but are not limited to, the operation and operational maintenance of equipment and instruments; determining laboratory and field requirements and keeping up to date with relevant Health and Safety legislation, codes of practice and regulations.
The successful candidate should hold a degree or equivalent level qualification in a land surveying (Geomatics) related subject or have significant vocational experience, demonstrating development through progressively more demanding, relevant roles. You should also have excellent team working and communication skills and demonstrate technical and problem solving capabilities. You should be able to demonstrate good organising abilities in order to meet deadlines.
Please note you must on occasion be able to work after normal office hours during term time and on field courses to ensure readiness of teaching equipment for practical classes, for which time off in lieu is given.
