We invite applications for two (2) doctoral candidate positions in exciting projects within the field of brain imaging and cognitive neuroscience. The positions are open in the Imaging Language group headed by prof. Riitta Salmelin at the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical engineering (http://nbe.aalto.fi/en/groups/imaging_language/). The group has pioneered the use of MEG in studying language processing in the brain, and today employs multiple brain imaging modalities to gain insight into how language function is neurally organized and how the different imaging methods can be best used to probe that organization.
The positions are fully-funded, full-time for 4 years, and subject to successful mid-term evaluation after the second year. The topics of the positions include (1) multimodal brain imaging and (2) individual differences in processing language and semantics.
We are looking for highly motivated candidates who have a Master’s degree in engineering, computational science, cognitive science, psychology or a related field. The research environment is multilingual so a good command of both written and spoken English is a necessity. Previous experience in scripting/programming (e.g. Matlab, Python, R) is considered an asset. Both candidates are expected to take part in all steps of the research, from experimental design and data collection to advanced analysis of the data and interpretation of the findings.

The deadline for the application is the 1st of November 2018, but each position may be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
