The Life Sciences track of EvoAPPS 2019 welcomes work on the application
of evolutionary computation, and its combination with bioinformatics,
computational biology or machine learning to address important problems
in medical applications and biology, from the molecular and genomic
dimension, to the individual and population level.
EvoApplications gives European and non-European researchers in its
thematic areas, as well as people from industry, an opportunity to
present their latest research and to discuss current developments and
applications, besides fostering closer future interaction between
members of the different scientific communities it addresses.
For the thematic area on life sciences, topics of interest include, but
are not limited
to:
- Medical imaging, signal processing and text analysis
- Data mining medical data and records
- Clinical expert systems
- Modelling and simulation of medical processes
- Drug description analysis
- Patient-centric care
- Interpreting genomic or metagenomic data
- Discovering regulatory or expression pathways
- Rational drug design and personalized medicine
- Modeling ecosystems or population dynamics
- Discovering genome-disease or genome-phenotype associations
- Biomedical text/data mining and visualization
- Network biology/medicine
- Omics data analysis and functional genomics for complex diseases
- Gene-gene interactions and gene-environment interactions for disease
association analysis
- Protein Structure Prediction
- Assembling next generation sequence data

TWO TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS
This year EvoApplications is accepting two kinds of submission: full
papers and short papers. Full papers require novel and complete
research work and have a limit of 16 pages. Short papers should
present complete research and interesting preliminary results and have
a limit of 8 pages. Both types of submission will undergo the same
double-blind review process and all accepted papers will be included
in the LNCS proceedings. All authors of accepted papers will be given
the opportunity to further disseminate their work in poster sessions.
- Page limit: 8 pages (short papers) or 16 pages (full papers).
- Submission format: Springer LNCS (instructions are downloadable from
http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0)
- Review process: double-blind. Please ensure to anonymize your submission.

LOCATION
The city of Leipzig is located in the north-east of Germany, about
160km south of Berlin. Situated at the crossing of two major medieval
trading routes, Via Imperii connecting Italy with the North and Via
Regia connecting East and West, it was once considered as one of the
major European centers of trade, culture and learning. Today Leipzig
is a pleasant, green and young city with a rich cultural diversity,
particularly in the city center, where one can find many beautiful
historical buildings from different architectural periods, museums and
parks. Also, lovers of classical music will appreciate Leipzig for the
influence of Bach and Mendelsohn, who lived in the city for
significant parts of their lives.
