Subject: Searching for 2-year post-doc
Hi Pat -
I hope you are doing very well and had a good summer.
Given your area of expertise and your role in the Race, Culture and Equality Working Group I was wondering whether you might forward the post-doc ad below to any recent PhD graduate who would be appropriate - do feel free to share more widely.
Thank you very much!
Dorothea

Dear colleagues,
I am contacting you as I think you might have ideas on this.
The Sheffield Institute for International Development is a network of around 100 affiliated researchers across the University of Sheffield and we are currently in a transformation process to:
1) integrate more theoretical approaches coming from the global South about "development" and social change into our thinking and our research
2) diversify and decolonize our curriculum and our readings (gender, race, culture, sexuality, disability etc)
3) champion our SIID principles of ethical and just partnerships as well as open partner dialogue across the entire university
4) develop a programme of joint learning/ conscientisation (for the core group and our 100 affiliated researchers) to help us reflect on and change the way we think
We are advertising a related 2-year post-doc. This post-doc researcher would be free to pursue their own research agenda, with mentoring from us, for the majority of their time, and will also help us co-develop a workshop programme on decolonizing our curricula and knowledge production practices.
The requirements say that they have to have received their PhD in a relevant subject since 1 Aug 2017 (or be close to finishing).
We are very keen to receive applications from the global South or from those currently underrepresented at UK universities, so we would be very grateful if you could think about whether you know anybody suitable and pass this job ad on to them. The closing date is 15 October 2018.

I am very happy to answer questions informally if you have sombody who is considering applying. Please encourage them to apply!

This is a very important process for us and we would welcome your help with building the team in this way.
Many Thanks
Dorothea
