Job Opportunity at The National Archives
Cross Government Engagement Lead
We are currently recruiting to one of two Cross-Government Engagement Lead roles, which work jointly to run and shape the Information Management Assessment (IMA) programme. The National Archives sets the standards for information management (IM) in Government via the IMA programme which audits the Knowledge and Information Management function in the ministerial departments. This role is a great opportunity to work with senior stakeholders in Government. You will regularly be visiting other Government departments and will get to know your way around Whitehall and experience the culture of the different departments.
By leading and contributing to IMAs the Cross Government Engagement Leads have an unparalleled overview of the Information Management Landscape in Government and as such are best placed to feed into cross government initiatives such as Cloud technology user groups, IM events and the Better Information for Better Government (BIfBG) programme. This role will be on one day a week secondment to the BIfBG programme, at the Cabinet Office, in order to provide subject matter expertise.
The Cross Government Engagement team is a close-knit and passionate team and there is also the opportunity to line manage the Government Audience Project Support Officer. The role will report to the Head of Cross Government Engagement within the Government Audience Directorate.
The Government Audience Directorate is centred on The National Archives' statutory responsibility to provide advice, guidance and supervision to government departments, concerning their management, appraisal, selection, review and eventual transfer to The National Archives of their historical records. Without records, we could not hold government to account, carry out pioneering research or learn from the past. Whether they are websites, the evidence heard by inquiries or algorithms which support decision-making, the survival of our (increasingly digital) public records is vital. Your work will help ensure that today's records are accessible to the next generation of citizens, researchers and historians.
About you
You will have excellent engagement and communication skills, thrive on working collaboratively and communicating the wider impact of your work, while also being able to get into the detail when needed.
You will be a strategic thinker, understanding how targeted and varied engagement with stakeholders can contribute to driving a bigger agenda and will frequently look for opportunities to innovate to achieve desired outcomes quicker.
Join us here in beautiful Kew, just 10 minutes' walk from the Overground and Underground stations, and be part of a modern vibrant national archive. In return, you can expect an excellent Civil Service benefits package that includes a pension, the option to work part time or job share and opportunities for training and development. We also offer access to the Civil Service sports facilities, wellbeing resources (e.g. on-site therapists), an on-site gym, fitness lessons, a restaurant, shop and staff bar.
Closing date: 11th November at Midnight
Salary: £32,629
