Opportunities in Data Science, The Competition & Markets Authority, London
The CMA is a world leading Competition Authority at the forefront of tackling these pressing public policy questions. Our mission is to make markets work well in the interests of consumers. We undertake objective, evidence-based analysis that can have a direct and substantial impact on the economy and economic prosperity.
How should we regulate data and technology markets, if at all? Which machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques do competition and consumer protection regulators need to use and to understand, to promote innovation and to protect our society?
The CMA is recruiting for a new Data, Technology and Analytics (DaTA) unit to support its work in technology markets, the analysis of digital competition and artificial intelligence and working with large datasets.
The DaTA unit will help the CMA deal with data – e.g. datasets from firms, maps, web scraping, video, cookies and more – and use machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques – e.g. finding where to search among 100,000s of documents given to us by firms. And it will help the CMA understand how firms are using data, what their algorithms do, and how algorithms are interacting to form the markets we see.
